I do commissioned portraits of horses and dogs—either pastel or oil. I enjoy the feeling of both mediums, and each has its strong points. Oil captures more of a mood, and a richness of color. My clients find it more “painterly” than the precise pastels, but there are some who prefer the latter, because they like the “kindness of eye” that pastel lends itself to. I happened on this polo pony during a fall meet, waiting patiently for the game to begin.
