All hunts hold their meets in established territories where they have landowners’ permission to roam. This painting was done from a hunt meet in lovely Westport, MA. It’s a unique setting to paint, because the land is Oceanside. Crumbling stone walls, sprawling hedges of bittersweet, and often a salt tang in the air. When I paint Westport, I have to use a different color palette to capture the misty light.
